Dark and Sweet Homemade Barbecue Sauce Recipe.
You could buy the pre-made BBQ sauces everyone buys or you could make your own.
My special do-it-yourself barbecue sauce recipe is just as good as store bought BBQ sauce, but in my opinion, much much better. Not that it's healthier or anything, but because it tastes amazing.
I was thinking about going into all the different types of BBQ sauces, from the Northern styles to the southern types. Let's not forget about the South West styles, or the Hispanic variations. Nope. I'm not going into the history and origins of Barbecue sauces. Sorry.
IS this a healthy BBQ sauce? Heck no...I wouldn't try to make up a healthy version of barbecue sauce, where's the point in that? I mean you're not going to like what I put in my bbq sauce if you have issues with your present health.
So let's get to the recipe...
First of all, this is a sugar based recipe. Diabetics beware.
To make about 12+ Ounces follow my special BBQ Sauce Recipe below.
- 3 Cups Brown Sugar
- 2 Cups White Sugar
- 2 Table Spoons White Vinegar
- 3/4 Cup Ketchup
- 1/4 Cup Brown Mustard
- 3/4 Cup Molasses
- 1/4 Cup Minced Garlic
- 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
- 1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
- 2 Table Spoons Botanas Hot Sauce
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Table spoon Bourbon
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 2 Tablespoons Steak Seasoning. (McCormick)
- 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
Directions:
Mix all ingredients minus the water together vigorously over low to medium low heat. Do not simmer or allow to bubble, but raise temperature to melt sugars and release flavors. Remove from heat and add water while whisking until smooth.
Baste anything with this sauce or just bottle for storage.
Use a clean empty BBQ or Ketchup bottle and pour using a funnel.
Season to taste. This is just a basic recipe for BBQ sauce using some old recipes I had trapped in my gray matter for a S.W. Sauce and a Northern Yankee Styled sauce. I added in a few odds and ends, and like everything else, made it my own. This is a great BBQ sauce.
