Memories of the Home Kitchen

The Home Kitchen is Where Everything Starts.

Memories are made in the warmth of every home kitchen. Everything family oriented basically starts in or near the kitchen. From the dinning room table to the kitchen sink, some of our most fondest childhood and adulthood memories were created and savored in the cupboard of our lives.

Food is everything, but sometimes our memory can retrace back to other items that have even more value. Like for instance, can you remember the plates your mother served food on? Perhaps a special mug or coffee maker? Little things that hold value in terms of how we recall our family memories are just as important as the food that we loved to eat and remember so well.

I can remember the god awful plane-glass mirror wall next to our dinning room table in the home where I grew up. Nothing worse than watching yourself eat. I also remember the ugly godly flowered plates my mother served food on. I also recall the gold rimmed coffee cups that shot blue sparks in the microwave.

Ahhh... Memories...

I do things with my children in the kitchen that I know they will remember for many years to come. We make homemade Pizza where they get to make the dough, add the sauce and all the toppings. They love it. They also love seeing it come out of the oven and enjoying their own homemade slices. They take pride in it, and most of all, they will remember Dad doing this with them forever in their lifetime.

What can you do with your family that will inspire them for a lifetime in your kitchen?

Don't wait just for the holidays to make cherished memories. Make things with them. Cookies, Sushi, Pizza, Pasta, Donuts, whatever your family enjoys and your children can get their hands into helping make, will make memories they can one day share with their own children or even grandchildren.

The point is, wherever you make memories, the kitchen is a good place to start. Sure, you can take them to Disney World, or the Zoo. Better yet though, you can take out a bag of flour, make a mess and make a ton of great memories that will last for a very long time to come. So get cooking!
